Ransom is a playboy with a trust fund. He's never had a job and doesn't plan on getting one - ever. Hard work is for people not clever enough to do it the easy, smart, and better way. His way. Get what you want and don't worry about anyone else. He's extremely self-aware which lends to his ability to be the right person in every situation. He's adaptable in the sense that he can be kind or compassionate, loving or gentle, cruel or manipulative, all with practiced ease. Ransom gets along with everyone, that is, until they see his true nature, but it takes a lot to get to that point. His skill with manipulating people comes down to confidence, determination, and intelligence all twisted around selfish and greedy motivations.
At the party, that night, my last conversation with him, our last fight, that's what he told me, about you. That you beat him nearly every time. More than me. And I thought what a strange thing to tell me. But I think I get it now. I think it did mean something.
What's worse, in Ransom's mind, than being second best to someone he perceived to be below him? Nothing. His grandfather's nurse Marta is an immigrant, the 'help', and therefore, not on his level. While he can admire her for her finer qualities and abilities, he also feels jealous and indignant at the mere thought that she might be better than him at anything. When it's pointed out that she wins the game GO more often than Ransom does, it stings. It takes some careful introspection but he eventually understands why his granddad Harlan would take the time to tell him this fact about Marta and why something so small would bother him so much. Harlan valued Marta over him. He believed her to be more clever, intelligent, and worth more than Ransom. He hates that so he hates Marta on principle - even though she'd never actually done anything to him.
This is stoopid with two o's and you don't have a shred of evidence, you're just spinning a fairy tale.
Perhaps the easiest to explain is how disrespectful Ransom is. He's rude to his parents, his cousins, aunts and uncles, his grandfather, the family's employees, and so on. He says what he wants when he wants to regardless of how the other person might respond or feel. It's always on his terms. If he decides to be impolite then he's going to be and he'll just laugh it off if the recipient of his words is offended by them.

I want to say this just to you, not to a courtroom of cameras, just to you because you know it's the truth: we allowed you into our home. We allowed you to take care of granddad, to be part of our family and now you think you can steal it from us? You think I'm not going to fight for our birthright, our home, our ancestral family home?
Ransom Drysdale is an arrogant, selfish asshole with a deep cruel streak. He's prejudice against those who don't live the way he does ( if you're poor then fix it, somehow ). He makes racist remarks. He prioritizes his own needs and well-being over everyone else's. His inheritance is important to him because he wants to maintain the lifestyle he's used to, separate from his family, and not have to work hard for what he's decided is owed him. When anyone, at all, gets in the way of that he'll mow them down. Ransom will walk over whoever he has to in order to remain on top - that includes violence, hostility, and murder.
And then you'll see just how much hell I can wreak on your life, you vicious little bitch.
On a smaller list are his good qualities. Those little quirks of character that would be positive or slightly redeeming. Ransom is fun to be around. He can make amusing jokes and lighten up the room. He's relaxed and loose, comfortable, in social situations and he's popular for how charming he can be. He can be genuinely nice if it suits his mood and unless he feels threatened, he generally is in a good mood. He's the type of person that everyone loves being around in a group social setting and those same people know he doesn't do one on one interactions often. He gives what he wants to others and the lap it up.
